Throughout the courses of humanity, humans have expanded themselves all over the world, leaving traces of their activities everywhere. Because of our needs to living, where ever we are, there are exploitations of natural resources. Supposedly, using natural resources shouldn't be that much of an issue, but as our numbers grow and as we crave for more, the Earth no longer can support the all of us. The conservation and preservation of natural resources became extremely important.
However, the management of natural resources is easier said than done. People are selfish, and because natural resources are precious and valuable, everyone is eager to exploit them and make big money off them. If people cannot put the well being of the Earth in front of themselves, then it will be really hard to sustain natural resources.
Likewise, the current state of global fisheries and climate change are not in good shape. Marine species are exploited in such speed that there is not much new offsprings left. All marine species are wiped out in such speed that the amount is dropping significantly day by day. Like other resources, countries are all fighting to take all of them for money, so it's nearly impossible to sustain our resources.
Climate change is so hard to improve because many countries are not recognising the issue. Many countries see climate change and global warming as part of the natural phenomenon and have nothing to do with human activities.
Though countries have accomplish something getting rid of the ozone layer and acid rain issue, but in general, humans are destroying the Earth. We are doing exactly what the Rapa Nui people are doing, and if we don't do something about it, sooner or later, there will be no Earth left for us.
