Three types of violence, direct, structural, and cultural and violence, they are all obstacles for the world to seek for ultimate peace. These three violences are all interchangeably connected with each other. Direct violence can be stopped when people obey the laws, however, there will always be war unless cultural violence is eliminated. Structural violence happens within the system. Laws may be used by biased police officers to target a certain minority group. And this all happens because of cultural violence. Biased ideologies like racism, sexism, classism, are always around us. As long as we think, we will form our own opinions and be biased. Nobody is impartial. What we believe will make us biased and that will created structural and direct violence. There are not any real action to stop peace but to have people remain rational and keep their opinions to themselves without hurting anyone.
Democracy may seem to be the core of modern countries, but it has ultimately failed to implement peace. There is no way peace can be achieved in democracy. When people are given with freedom of speech or press, something biased and hurtful will be outspoken or published. When people are free to express themselves, they tend to infringe other people by being offensive, forming cultural violence. Therefore, democracy does not help that much with implementing peace.
